Nannup is located 280 kilometres south of Perth on the Blackwood River at the crossroads of Vasse Highway and Brockman Highway.

The town contains a district high school, a Community Resource Centre, the shire offices, a roadhouse, sports complex, shopping facilities, hotel/motel, B&Bs, a caravan park, police station, cafes, a hardware store, community centre, golf club, a golf course, nursery and a gemstone museum.

The main industries in the area are timber milling and agriculture (mostly beef cattle). Also, viticulture, floriculture and tourism are of increasing importance, as are furniture production and other timber value-adding activities.

The Nannup Arts Council help the local community and visiting artists to exhibit their work through exhibitions, workshops and festivals.

Nannup Music Festival has been running sunce 1988 and takes place during March each year on the labour day long weekend. Visit the Nannup Festival website for more information.

Other events held in the town include the the week-long Nannup Flower and Garden Festival held in August each year and the weekend Rose Festival held in November.
